HLTV releases update for Rating 3.0

The new version of rating 3.0 will give frags more impact.

HLTV announced changes to rating 3.0 on October 29th, just over two months since 3.0's introduction.

Rating 3.0 introduced the round swing stat, which puts a player's actions into the context of a round. A 4K against unarmored pistols will bring less positive round swing than a 4K in a full gun round.

Round swing is still the primary factor in rating 3.0, but it has been rebalanced in the update to hold less weight than it did before. Kills are weighted more heavily than previously in a player's overall rating, but frags also have less of an impact on the swing subrating, with damage share receiving a boost in that category.

To be precise, kills now hold 25% of a rating's value in the update, up from 12%. Round swing has decreased from 40% to 33%, a decrease, but still the most valuable subcategory in rating 3.0.

Players will now receive more round swing when they make impactful plays outside of the fragging department, such as flash assists or a ninja defuse.

Multi-kills and KAST now hold less value in rating 3.0, as those two factors overlap with kills, which already got a significant buff.

Here is everything that was adjusted:
