Valve releases CS2 beta update featuring new defuse changes
Valve has released a beta update to Counter-Strike 2, which comes with some major changes to defusing the bomb. Players who want to get crafty with defuse fakes may have to adjust their strategies if these updates make it into the full game.
When defusing the bomb, the defuser now lowers their weapon on their view model. This is the visual representation of the 150ms delay added to firing after letting go of a defuse.
Scoping is also no longer possible while defusing, which was a common trick to make an enemy think that the CT was searching for the kill and not disarming the bomb.
Valve has also updated the engine code to the latest version of Source 2, alongside changes that reduce CPU usage.
This update is not available for use in public matchmaking, so users will need to opt into a beta CS2 build to test out these changes.
