Passion UA top Urban Liga Open over EYEBALLERS, likely securing a Stage Two spot at the Major
After back-to-back grand final runs at DraculaN 2 and now the Urban Liga Open, Passion UA have made up for their loss to OG in Bucharest with a 2-1 win over EYEBALLERS to top Urban Riga Open #1. With the win over Jesper "JW" Wecksell and co., Passion UA have secured a significant amount of VRS points for their European tour, making it all but certain they have claimed one of the two direct Americas spots in Stage Two of the StarLadder Budapest Major.
Unlike at DraculaN 2, Passion UA's run to the Urban Liga Open came via the upper bracket, with wins against Fingers Crossed, BIG, and EYEBALLERS.
In the finals the team ended up facing EYEBALLERS in a rematch of the Upper Bracket Finals, with the series kicking off with Passion UA securing a close 13-11 win on Ancient before EYEBALLERS tied up the series with a 16-14 win on Dust2 despite a miraculous comeback from Passion UA that saw the team force overtime despite ending the half down 9-3.
On the final map of the series, Nuke, Passion UA were firmly in control after an 8-4 T-side powered by 13 kills from Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli, parlaying this lead into taking the map 13-7 and thus winning the series 2-1.
Looking at the event as a whole, it has been a second straight stellar showing from Michael "Grim" Wince, with the American ending the Latvian LAN with a 1.30 rating over twelve maps.
Passion UA has a clear calendar ahead of the StarLadder Budapest Major on November 24th, where they are expected to start in Stage Two.
