Liquid knock TYLOO out of FISSURE Playground 2, earn 100 VRS points
Liquid are one win away from advancing to FISSURE Playground 2 playoffs as they eliminated TYLOO on September 16th, in one of the 1-2 matches of the Swiss group stage.
On top of that, Liquid earned 100 Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points, which could be enough for them to make the StarLadder Budapest Major. Liquid jumped from 24th to 18th in VRS thanks to these 100 points. They had already earned 90 VRS points for beating HEROIC yesterday.
Things were looking dire for Liquid on Ancient, their map pick, but they came back thanks to a nearly perfect CT-side in the second half. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken led the charges in that half, contributing with 19 kills, 142.2 ADR, and a whopping +11.12% Round Swing.
However, TYLOO equalized the series after Inferno. The Chinese team controlled the game, and an inspired Qianhao "Moseyuh" Chen won them a crucial round at the end.
On Mirage, Liquid had the chance to secure a really good advantage for the second half, but TYLOO managed to salvage their first half on the CT side. What was looking like an easy game suddenly became intense as TYLOO clinched the second pistol, leaving things wide open.
After some nerve-wracking back-and-forth, which had Liquid drop the ball on an eco round, Liquid broke TYLOO's economy again and secured the victory on their first map point.
Liquid will return to the server tomorrow and play their final match in FISSURE Playground 2's group stage. This will be Twistzz's final match for Liquid, should they lose.
Ironically, there's a possibility that Liquid play FaZe tomorrow.
