Legacy Kingdom cut abby from Legacy Lotus for failure to apologize for "insensitive statements about the death of Charlie Kirk"
Dust2.us has confirmed that Legacy Kingdom have cut Abigail "abby" Deters from their Legacy Lotus ESL Impact team due to X posts made by the player in the wake of the assassination of conservative political commentator and pundit Charlie Kirk. According to a comment provided to Dust2.us by Legacy Kingdom CEO Bxndit, abby was cut due to "failing to comply with our request to apologize for the claims made on the Kirk Tragedy."
According to the organization, a number of players on their Legacy Lotus roster made or shared X posts that were deemed offensive or insensitive in the wake of Kirk's assassination, leading to Legacy Kingdom demanding their removal and for each of the players to issue an apology. It is understood that abby deleted her X post but declined to issue a public apology, leading to the organization voiding her contract.
The removal of abby from the Legacy Lotus roster comes two weeks after the Canadian organization entered the Impact scene with the signing of Lotus.
While the remaining players have remained with Legacy Kingdom in the wake of abby's ouster, backlash to the decision has seemingly spread throughout the organization, with recently hired former Final Form owner Koz quitting the organization in protest of a feeling that the "right actions [weren't] taken at the highest of levels" i.e. that the players were not punished more severely.
Legacy Lotus are now:
-
Samantha "Zazu" Blair -
Cass "tokkis" Dellinger -
Avery "cyclone" V. -
Alice "alicerawr" Hewitt
Legacy Lotus will continue to field Ava "estrella" Ubiles in week two of ESL Impact League Season 8 when they take on Black Mold on September 17th.
