New Impact season begins | ESL Impact League S8 Week 1 Roundup
The eighth season of ESL Impact League North America kicked off this week. Shimmer, FlyQuest RED, Noctural, and wwaves started the season on the right foot and won their matches.
Every week counts, as only the top two teams will qualify for the ESL Impact League LAN Finals in Sweden, which kicks off on November 28th. You can see how the first week of NA matches played out below.
Shimmer 2-0 Black Mold
Shimmer, who previously played under the Supernova Comets banner, are the strongest Impact team in North America right now. And, they had no trouble at all against Black Mold.
Lucy "empathy" Verkaik's troops quickly beat Black Mold by 2-0, and their adversary didn't make past double digits, even combining two maps. Everybody on Shimmer had a great frag output, but Lydia "Fawx" Daldon topped the scoreboard with 31.

FlyQuest RED 2-0 Ghost
FlyQuest RED, the second-best team in NA Impact, also started their campaign with a 2-0 victory. However, Ghost put up a true fight on Inferno, and nearly upset FlyQuest RED.
Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie and co. clinched the win on the final round of regulation, though, and sealed the victory with a quicker game on Dust2.

Nocturnal 2-0 Little Bocks
Nocturnal claimed the victory on Dust2, Little Bocks' pick, off the back of an incredible performance by Tori "raynee" Gustafson (20 kills, 127.9 ADR, and +10.92% Round Swing).
The series went to Mirage, and this time around, Violet "violet" Carfora was the one who carried Nocturnal and made them avoid a third map.

Coincidentally, all four matches in week one finished 2-0. In this game, wwaves took down Legacy Lotus on Nuke thanks to a solid performance on both sides.
And, on Dust2, Legacy Lotus took the lead in the second half thanks to their T-side, but wwaves won the final three rounds to avoid the loss or overtime.
