The clock is ticking

Liquid's Major odds continue to plummet in latest rankings prediction

It's getting bleaker by the week.

Liquid's simulated odds of reaching the StarLadder Budapest Major have dropped even further, casting serious doubt on whether or not the team once considered the "best" in NA will even qualify.

The simulator master, EPICLAN and the UK/Ireland Circuit league admin Finn "Mischief" Farrer, has posted his Major rankings predictions for EU for three straight weeks, and Liquid has fallen each week. On August 19th, Liquid had a 48.2% chance of qualifying. Last week, that fell to 42.21%, and as of today it's now way down to 20.75%.

Outside of "longshot" teams with chances below four percent, Liquid has the lowest odds of any EU team that is currently vying for a spot at the Major. Since the first set of predictions came out two weeks ago, following Liquid's consecutive close losses to Vitality, Liquid has fallen to G2, defeated Imperial, and then lost to Spirit. While losses to higher ranked teams like Vitality, G2, and Spirit were expected, they don't do Liquid's ranking any favors.

Liquid has a huge mountain to climb with just a month remaining until the rankings lock. Only two events are on their schedule before October 7th: FISSURE Playground #2 and Birch Cup, a $15,000 LAN in Poland. For Liquid to have a realistic chance at qualifying for the Major, they would have to perform well while a handful of teams currently ranked above them have to slide.
