M80 stay alive in BLAST Open London 2025 at the expense of Virtus.pro

M80 stay alive to fight another day in BLAST Open London 2025's online group stage as they reverse-swept Virtus.pro this Friday, August 29th. The NA team now need to win back-to-back series in the lower bracket to qualify for the LAN finals.

For the surprise of many, M80 picked Overpass — one of the two maps that Virtus.pro feel comfortable — and that understandably backfired. The Russian team pulled off a nearly flawless CT-side (11-1), which pretty much secured them the game.

However, Virtus.pro returned the favor by picking Dust2, one of their worst maps. This time, M80 started on the CT-side and absolutely crushed Virtus.pro (10-2). VP found three rounds in a row at the beginning of the second half, but they were down too many points to make the comeback possible.

On Mirage, the final map, Virtus.pro managed to salvage their T-side in the end of the first half by winning four out of six rounds, but M80 were clearly the better team. M80 got close to map point territory real quick and won the series after Jadan "HexT" Postma pulled a brilliant play in a tough 3v5 scenario.
