NRG withdraws from DraculaN tournament in Bucharest

NRG have left Complexity to fend for themselves.

NRG has officially withdrawn from the DraculaN tournament at the Nexus Gamers Pub in Buchrarest, as announced by organizer Digital Crusade today. Earlier just this month, the organizer had opted to expand to Global VRS to accommodate both NRG and Complexity.

Following the original announcement, Digital Crusade made the slot available for purchase, and it was secured by ENCE just a matter of hours later. With NRG's withdrawal, NA's representation at the tier 2 VRS Ranked event has been cut in half, with now only Complexity representing the region against the likes of NiP and Fnatic.

Dust2.us reached out to NRG for comment and was informed by coach Damian "daps" Steele that the decision to withdraw was due to a conflict with the upcoming ECL schedule. NRG would have to potentially forfeit two games during the second stretch of the first NA Cup, and that was "not worth the VRS loss," daps said. Due to the double-elimination bracket format of the cup, forfeiting two matches would guarantee an elimination from the tournament.

That first ECL NA Cup 1 bracket is part of the new, lengthy path for qualifying for ESL Pro League starting in Season 23. NRG however are already competing in EPL S22 after winning ECL NA S49, and start their run at the top tier international league in late September.

This is the now current list of teams competing at DraculaN:

9INE
Aimclub
United States Complexity
ENCE
Sweden EYEBALLERS
Fnatic
HyperSpirit
Iberian Soul

Infinite
Inner Circle
Insiders
Passion UA
MANA
Monte
