Has the latest CS2 update made bhopping too easy? See the impact of Valve's latest change
The most recent update to Counter-Strike 2 brought fixes for grenade bugs and first-person viewmodel lag, as well as changes to the bhopping jump spam clock.
The adjustments made to bhopping appear to have made it much easier, perhaps too easy, compared to previous versions of the game. This might be seen as an improvement, as many have complained about the difficulty of bunny hopping since Counter-Strike 2's release.
As seen in this clip from NA CS2 streamer Josiah "JoJo" Jimenez, players have been able to pull off insane BHOP chains after the patch with a mix of locking FPS and being skilled at the movement tech.
The update that was launched on the first of the month was intended to fix the movement mechanic after the prior update essentially broke bhopping.
In order for bunny hopping to work consistently, however, one must set their max FPS to somewhere within the 60-75 range, as noted in a Reddit thread while also desubticking your inputs also helps.
The clunkiness of movement has been an ongoing point of ire since the release of CS:GO's successor, but it was emphasized in another recent update that made bunny hopping virtually impossible.
We will have to see how Valve responds to this new developing meta, but the developer have previously said they consider bhopping to be an integral part of the game so perhaps this is their vision for the future of the shooter albeit a bit toned down.
