Liquid tumbles, Complexity improves in official August VRS update
Liquid are among the farthest fallers in the official August update to the Valve Regional Standings, falling even further away from a guaranteed Stage Two spot at the next Major.
Liquid dropped from 17th to 26th in the global rankings, and dropped from 14th to 17th in the EU rankings. During the past month Liquid has suffered some unexplainable losses to teams below them, most notably to the likes of Sashi during the ESL Pro League qualifier, and most recently to VP's academy roster, VP.Prodigy.
At Cologne, Liquid at least advanced past the Play-In stage with wins against paiN and FlyQuest, but ended up getting bounced out of the group stage quickly by FaZe and MOUZ. But the most recent loss to VP.Prodigy really seems to have done a number on the team's confidence, with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken venting on X: "We are not a team. No words for how we play."
Despite a lackluster showing in Cologne, Complexity meanwhile jumped up a few spots in the official rankings following Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli's return, from 24th to 20th globally and from 5th to 3rd in the Americas. With the current slot distribution, if the next Major used the current VRS Americas rankings, FURIA and paiN would start in Stage Three, while Complexity and Legacy would begin in Stage Two.
On the Americas front, M80 have managed to climb up to 6th place from 9th place since adding Jadan "HexT" Postma while Wildcard have slipped slightly from 8th to 10th place amidst their roster shenanigans.
The current top ten in the Americas VRS for just NA teams consists of:
-
Complexity (1349 Points) -
M80 (1220 Points) -
NRG (1122 Points) -
Wildcard (1002 Points) -
BLUEJAYS (976 Points) -
Marsborne (941 Points) -
Getting Info (891 Points) -
LAG (782 Points) -
Chicken Coop (779 Points) -
Supernova Comets (771 Points)
