The invites and qualifiers are a bit of a mess

Liquid invited to CS Asia Championship, NA and SA to fight for one qualifier spot

Perfect World's changes are less than perfect.

Perfect World today announced Liquid as one of the nine teams to be invited to the CS Asia Championships 2025.

The changes to the qualifiers for the event have left several teams in a tough spot though, including those in North America. The Americas qualifier will now only qualify one team instead of two, and teams from across the entre Americas region will be forced to compete online.

Asia and Oceania have also been negatively affected, as the Asia qualifier has been converted into a China qualifier that will qualify two teams to the main event. The organizers have also drawn criticism for using a Wildcard invite to invite the highly ranked FaZe roster to a tier two event as the reigning champions.

As noted first by HLTV though, Perfect World is also violating Valve tournament rules by announcing the changes to the event at the same time as invites going out. According to the rulebook, these changes are supposed to be announced in the tournament's Additional Information section at least a month before the invite date.
