Breaking: Wildcard move susp to the bench
Wildcard have announced today that Swedish rifler Tim "susp" Ångström has been benched from the struggling lineup at his own request to pursue opportunities to compete in Europe. The move is the latest change in Wildcard's ranks as part of a tumultuous period for the team post-Major that saw the Houston-based organization bench Love "phzy" Smidebrant and Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz at the start of the month.
susp's exit from the lineup immediately follows the debut of Wildcard's new roster at FISSURE Playground #1, which saw the team exit the Serbian LAN after losses to GamerLegion and FURIA. In that event Wildcard hoped to hit the ground running while debuting Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell and Sebastian "fr3nd" Kuśmierz, however the majority of the team struggled with susp being the sole player to post an HLTV Rating above 1.0 over the course of five maps played.
Wildcard will now be hard-pressed to find a replacement for the Swede as the season is well underway and most prospects have been scooped up by rival organizations.
Additionally, the team must now contend with holding tryouts while actively competing as the team have three events scheduled this week alone with the Thunderpick World Championship 2025 NA Series #2, NA Revival Series #7, and the Ace North American Masters Fall 2025 all starting this week.
To make matters even worse, signs still points to Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek leaving Wildcard in the near future, with the South African being quite candid in a recent interview that his time with Wildcard is limited and only serves to help the squad retain their Valve Regional Standings (VRS) core.
