Liquid eliminate FlyQuest to lock in IEM Cologne Stage Two
Liquid advanced to IEM Cologne 2025 Stage Two at the expense of FlyQuest this Friday, July 25th. This was the first time that Liquid and Justin "jks" Savage played one another after he joined the Australian team, and Liquid prevailed this time around.
The action began on Nuke, FlyQuest's map pick, and Liquid put up a very strong defense in the first half that practically sealed the match. The second half finished shortly, and Liquid won comfortably by 13-6. Russel "Twistzz" van Dulken had an outstanding performance, having finished with 29 kills, only eight deaths, and a 2.32 rating.
Liquid's momentum ended quickly as FlyQuest looked more than prepared for Dust2. The Australian team trounced Liquid in the first half thanks to an impressive performance on the CT side and closed out the game as fast as they could to force Ancient.
Even though Liquid had a rough showing on Dust2, it seemed they reset in time for Ancient. They struck nearly eight rounds in a row after losing the first three rounds of the decider, and secured an 8-4 advantage for their T-side.
Liquid grabbed the second pistol as well, and Keith "NAF" Markovic won a 1v2 clutch in the first gun round of the half, thanks to a clever use of his Molotov to stop the defuse. FlyQuest put up a fight, but Liquid eventually found a way to end the match before the Australians forced overtime.
Liquid's journey in IEM Cologne Stage Two starts tomorrow, July 26th.
