Liquid surprise FaZe on Inferno, but collapse on Nuke in Cologne loss
After a much needed win against paiN yesterday to start IEM Cologne, Liquid looked to build their momentum with a win against FaZe. But despite stealing away Inferno, Liquid's struggles on their Mirage pick and the Nuke decider cost them.
FaZe took control of Mirage right away, shutting down Liquid and keeping NertZ and utlimate down to just seven kills in the first half. Once the buys came out in the second half, FaZe demonstrated T-side dominance, making quick work of the opening map 13-6.
But rather than roll over immediately, Liquid rallied on Inferno, salvaging a 6-6 first half despite losing the first four rounds. The European trio roared to life on their second half T-side, ripping apart the FaZe defense to take Inferno 13-10.
However it seems that Liquid spent all thier energy on Inferno, as they got decimated on Nuke 13-2, highlighted by an ace and a dominant overall showing from their former star EliGE. EliGE finished Nuke with 20 kills and only six deaths, averaging 133 ADR and a 2.45 player rating.
