Liquid, Wildcard lose NA status in Valve's latest VRS model update
Valve has made a major update to the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) on June 16th by removing multi-region representation. This means that if Liquid and Wildcard maintain their current rosters, they will appear only in the European VRS, as Europe is the strongest region because it holds more Major spots.
This is the change Valve made to the VRS model:
Updating regional representation so teams only appear on a single VRS list. In the case of a tie, the team is assigned to the stronger of the two regions.
Earlier this year, Valve had already updated the Major supplemental rulebook, changing how a team's Major region is defined.
So, to avoid being considered a European team, Liquid and Wildcard can no longer have a split majority between Europe and the Americas. Both teams will need an American core to appear in the American VRS moving forward.
Wildcard are reportedly adding a third American player in the form of Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell with signs pointing to him replacing South African rifler Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek.
