dumau plays down controversy with BESTIA: "People misunderstood what I said"
Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer and his Legacy teammates haven't been so happy all year as they are right now, as they find themselves just one win away from making Stage Three of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. The Brazilians had an amazing start on Stage Two, beating MIBR and later on 3DMAX convincingly.
Dust2.us' Editor-in-Chief had a chance to speak with dumau and understand what Legacy's mentality is in this Major. "We are just trying to have no regrets at all," dumau told Dust2.us after beating 3DMAX.
dumau also touched on the controversy he found himself in after saying that Legacy would play at the Major instead of BESTIA. You can find the entire interview below in either text or video form. All questions and answers have been slightly edited for clarity.
Incredible run so far in Stage Two, you're up 2-0. How do you think the win came together, and did you ever imagine being this far in the Major after failing in the qualifier?
To be honest, when we came, I didn't have any expectations or anything, even if we had qualified, because I think what we are trying to do is get better every single day. As an individual, I try to do it every day, I try to get better in my roles and everything in the game, I try to help my teammates in some way, so that's what I'm trying to do, and that's what we're trying to do as a team. I think this way we're just pressuring ourselves. We're not looking for outside things or social media, just what is on our side to get better.
What's the mood in the team? Is it just complete excitement, pandemonium? Because you guys are one win away from Stage Three. You're the leading Brazilian team on the road to Stage Three. That's a pretty big moment for you in your career, right?
Everybody has a lot of ups and downs, and we're sure trying to get better. I think what we are talking about is that if you go down, at least go down fighting, and lose in the best way of playing CS. And we're going to try to keep pushing ourselves and each other. I think this is a good way of 'no regrets,' sort of thing, you know? When we finish the game, even when we are losing, it happens for everybody. But we are just trying to have no regrets at all.
You know, you find yourself in a huge controversy after what you said at IEM Dallas, about replacing BESTIA in the Major. Did you expect such an insane reaction from the BESTIA players, given what you said was kind of obvious at that point?
I think people misunderstood what I said. I just said something about us, our confidence, and how we see the game. We really felt that we could beat them 9 out of 10 times, but it didn't happen. They deserved it, they won the game, that's it. But we believed that we could have done it, it's about believing. People misunderstood it and tried to change what I said. And, you know how it is, people don't look at the YouTube video, they don't go to see the words for themselves, and see the question.
That's pretty much how people understand. As for me, I can go to my bed and sleep very well, I don't care. I just want to play CS, have fun, and enjoy the moment with everybody. We don't know if we are going to lose tomorrow, if we're going to qualify or not. For me, it doesn't matter. I just want to go out and play CS as best as I can.

It looks like you're going to play Virtus.pro tomorrow. How are you feeling about that matchup? [Editor's Note: Legacy will play FaZe, not Virtus.pro.]
Virtus.pro's a good team. As I said to you, we just want to join the server, go out and win, and leave the server without any regrets. We don't want to leave and be like 'I didn't feel like that, I was kind of hesitating about things, etc.' We don't want to do that, I don't want to do that. I just want to leave and try. [If] I lose, I tried my best, and I will improve on that tomorrow and just keep getting better.
