ESL Challenger League Playoffs NA S49 Day 4: Legacy continue their lower bracket run
After moving past Getting Info and LFO 4, respectively, yesterday, Legacy and BLUEJAYS faced off in the lower semifinal to try to move one step closer to a grand final berth v. NRG.
Legacy selected Mirage to begin the best-of-three series and got off to a hot start. The Brazilians took six of the first seven rounds to propel themselves to an 8-4 first-half advantage.
BLUEJAYS answered right back, taking six of the first seven rounds in the second half as well, but Legacy recovered and secured the final four rounds on the bounce, winning map one 13-9.
BLUEJAYS' map choice was Ancient, but it looked grim at the start. Legacy sprinted out to a 6-0 lead, which led to a 9-3 lead at the interval.
When the Brazilians secured the second-half pistol and converted the following round, the match appeared to be all but over. However, BLUEJAYS came back firing, prevailing in eight out of the next nine rounds to bring the deficit to just one round at 12-11. The North Americans fell short, as Legacy were able to win the final round of regulation to secure 13-11 and their match victory.
Legacy were led by Buno "latto" Rebelatto's match-high 46 frags, better than anyone else in the server by at least nine kills.
Legacy now move on to a showdown with Nouns in the consolidation final. The match will begin at 09:00PM tonight.
