Media: G2 target HEROIC duo in post-Major rebuild
According to a report by Alejandro "anonimotum" Gomis of Sheep Esports, G2 have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with HEROIC to acquire Spanish AWPer Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia and Finnish coach Eetu "sAw" Saha following the conclusion of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
The move would therefore see Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas sidelined after more than a year with G2 while the organization would also complete their hunt for a replacement for Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov after he was acquired by Falcons last month. G2 are currently set to field Aleksander "hades" Miśkiewicz as a short-term stand-in for PGL Astana, IEM Dallas, and the BLAST.tv Austin Major, with hades expected to leave the team at the end of June.
According to Gomis, the roster move is reportedly pending approval from BLAST and Valve, likely due to the potential conflict of interest should HEROIC face off against G2 at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, thus leaving SunPayus and sAw with competing interests in Counter-Strike 2's most prestigious tournament.
As these presumptive trades are relatively common in Counter-Strike esports, it is unlikely Valve or BLAST take a stance on the move outside of ensuring it is not finalized on paper until after the Major.
Should these changes materialize following the BLAST.tv Austin Major, G2 would consist of:
-
Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač
-
Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
-
Janusz "snax" Pogorzelski
-
Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko
-
Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia
-
Eetu "sAw" Saha (Coach)
HEROIC and G2 are both set to attend IEM Dallas 2025 when it kicks off on May 19th.
