Nuke was a make or break map for obi and co.

G3 obi: "We should've closed out the series on Nuke"

G3 lost the grand finals on a razer's edge.

Despite an incredible run for G3 that saw the team look utterly dominant at times, the Asian squad ultimately fell apart in the finals, losing 2-1 to LAG. While the disappointment for G3 was undoubtedly immeasurable, the Mongolian-majority roster put on a great performance and have a lot to be proud of. Following the finals, Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore spoke to G3's Ochirbileg "obi" Shinebaatar about the finals, the formation of G3, obi's CS career back in Mongolia, and what the squad's future plans are, among other topics.

The complete interview is transcribed below, with the video version also being available on YouTube.

After such an incredible match, what are your feelings coming out of the series?

We should've closed out the series on Nuke. It was at one point 12-5 and we should've tried harder at that point. We lost some rounds and then when we started to try harder it was over. They just were the better team.

In the final round we saw C4LLM3SU3's monitor go off and he had to play on a teammate's screen. What happened there?

Just an unlucky round, nothing can be said there. We should've finished it out earlier so maybe that's karma for throwing.

Despite the loss, this was an incredible run from G3 with the team being relatively unknown before this tournament. Are you proud of what your team was able to accomplish?

Kind of proud, in my mind we should've won.

This roster had three Mongolian players and one Chinese player. What's the story there about these three Mongolians who are playing in NA?

arviast is an old guy compared to us, he's like 26 or 27, he just plays as a side gig to his work. N20AmZ and I are in university and we play during off-time. We found calamity and C4LLM3SU3 two months ago. But, I don't think we're going to play anymore after this.

Really? I think a lot of people would be really sad to hear that...

Only for four or five months. C4LLM3SU3 is going back to China and N20AmZ and I are going to take a break over the summer and I might go back home for a bit.

Hopefully after that you guys get back together, because this team was really impressive, especially C4LLM3SU3. What can you tell me about him?

At first we met during ESEA Advanced playoffs. He was on a Chinese stack and he was dropping 30 kills each map against us. We thought he was pretty good and then I sent a friend request to him and he asked to join our team.

We were trying to find two people so we took him and he's really good.

For those who don't know, you were a semi-pro on Clutch back in Mongolia. What can you tell me about your career back in Mongolia?

I was mainly a stand-in I would say. Those Clutch rosters were very random, you would have five different people on one day and five different people on another day so I mainly stood in for them.

Today the Major started with The MongolZ in attendance while your team made the finals here at Fragadelphia. Do you think we're in a Mongolian Counter-Strike Golden Age?

I don't know. I think we can do more and there's one of my friends who was a pro in Mongolia and he also came here and we're going to play with him in one or two seasons after he settles in.Maybe we can then make it to ECL then and beat teams.

Who's that player?

Laxiee if you've ever seen him. He played in the Asian ECL for a bit.

I understand most Mongolian CS players live in Ulaanbaatar, does that mean all the Mongolian players know each other?

Yeah almost all of them.

So it is a pretty close knit scene?

Almost everyone in the scene knows each other's bootcamp locations and everything. They're all kinds of friends.

Compared to a scene like that is so close, the NA scene is much more spread out. With that change, how are you enjoying your time competing in NA?

I don't know....

Complicated answer it seems, can you describe it in one word?

Hard maybe? People accuse me of cheating.

Well that's not very nice.
