Evil Geniuses/ATK mix qualifies for IESF 2023 over Team Canada
The North American Qualifier for IESF World Esports Championship 2023 has come to an end and we now know that Team USA will represent the region following their 2-0 win over Team Canada. Fielding a mix of Evil Geniuses Black and ATK players, the red white, and blue lineup swiftly dispatched their northern neighbors 16-5 on both Inferno and Ancient, punching their ticket to the World Championship which is set to kick off later this year in Romania.
Representing the region will be the US core of EG Black, with the explosive young duo of Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott and Paytyn "junior" Johnson being flanked by their veteran co-star and former Major champion, William "RUSH" Wierzba. Alongside the EG outlet will be a pair of exciting prospects from ATK, with Michael "Swisher" Schmid, and Ethan "reck" Serrano rounding out the team that is being coached by EG Black's Tommy "Axed" Ryan.
Despite the comfortable win for Team USA, the Canadian side had multiple recognizable names in the fray. Former ATK players Saad "Pluto" Siraj and Jonathan "djay" Dallal were joined by David "J0LZ" Jolin, Walker "walker" Harris, and Gabriel "tENSKI" Rodrigue.
Fortunately for the NA region, having either Team USA or Team Canada as the representative is a massive step up from last year's lineup. In a baffling scenario, Team USA for the 2022 offline qualifier which was held in Bali, Indonesia, was an ESEA Open team who went on to finish dead last in their group behind Austria, Hong Kong, and Namibia.
Team USA will lineup for the tournament which is set to kick off on August 25th as follows:
William "RUSH" Wierzba
Ethan "reck" Serrano.
Paytyn "junior" Johnson
Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott
Michael "Swisher" Schmid
Tommy "Axed" Ryan (Coach)
