Shakezullah becomes a coach after competing as a player for over 5 years

Shakezullah: "The goal is to bring EG back to where it was in 2019"

A disappointing last-place finish from the IEM Katowice Play-In meant the team never got to sniff the main stage.

Evil Geniuses started off 2023 with a bang, taking down the number one team in the world, Heroic, at BLAST Spring Groups. Since then, the team has had an unfortunate run, losing the next three BO3s to drop out of BLAST Spring Groups, missing out on qualifying for Spring Finals.

At the team's next event, IEM Katowice Play-In, they would face easier opposition, yet the results were no better. A BO1 loss to FNATIC immediately put them in the lower bracket. Evil Geniuses put up a good fight against Sprout, taking both maps to at least 29 rounds, but ultimately, they were cast out of IEM Katowice winless.

Part of EG's blueprint project includes not only signing multiple teams but also a vast array of support staff to help their players polish up. For one of the more recent signings, EG has added Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman as the assistant coach to their main team. Shakezullah is known far and wide throughout the NA scene as being one of the regions top sub-tie one IGLs. Now in a coaching role, he can add to Evil Geniuses without being on the server.

During EG's game against Sprout, Dust2.us' Liam "Slevo" Slevin interviewed the new coach about his entrance into the organization and his initial impressions of meeting the team.
