After time away the former Nordavind and Cloud9 coach is ready to get back in the saddle

Detonate take the m1ck

Detonate have bolstered their squad with the addition of the former Cloud9 Analyst.

The NA ECL team have decided to firm up their roster ahead of the new season with the addition of Joshua "m1cks" Micks as the team's Head Coach. m1cks is most recognizable for his stints as Assistant Coach and Analyst for Cloud9 from 2020-2021.

Following his tenure with Cloud9, m1cks then had a short stint with EU side Nordavind before he retired from Counter-Strike and returned to Cloud9 as a part of the squad's VALORANT setup in 2022. The coach's addition is a huge coup for the ECL side and comes after they parted ways with former long-time coach David "Dave" Tereshin.

The team will be hoping their recent changes can spur them on to a successful season after their poor form in ECL season 43 saw them have to fight for their place in the top division in the relegation tournament. Detonate have plenty of time to work with their new coach as their first ECL match isn't until next week when they will play one of the top sides in the division, ATK.

The Detonate team is now as follows:

  • United States Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore

  • Canada Adam "freshie" Paterson

  • United States Jack "micro" Ryan

  • United States Brett "brett" Rhein

  • United States Keller "SLIGHT" Nilan

  • United States Joshua "m1cks" Micks (Coach)

Earlier tonight, Detonate fell to ATK in the first IEM Brazil North American Open Qualifier, an opponent that m1cks will need to help the squad prepare for soon, as the two sides are set to face off once again on February 6th in Detonate's first match of the ECL season.
