Detonate tweak roster ahead of ECL start
With less than a week before the beginning of Season 44 of ESL Challenger League, Detonate have announced the addition of Kellen "SLIGHT" Nilan, who returns to competition nearly three months after exiting Strife in late September. In order to accommodate SLIGHT's addition, Detonate have parted ways with Sebastian "Florence" Ogarev.
SLIGHT returns to competition after the end of his lengthy tenure with Strife, which lasted over a year. During his time with Strife, SLIGHT helped his squad to several playoff finishes in ESL Challenger League, a first-place finish at Fragadelphia 16, and an international outing in the form of ESL Pro League Conference Season 16 n Jönköping, Sweden.
The removal of Florence from the squad marks the end of the core of Florence, Adam "freshie" Paterson, and Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore, who have played together on a number of different lineups since coming together in April 2022 under the Kinship banner. Alongside Florence's removal, long-time coach David "Dave" Tereshin is also parting ways with the squads, leaving the team coachless with the beginning of ECL fast approaching.
When reached for comment regarding the move, team captain Cryptic stated that the team now have high expectations for this upcoming season, and the onus will be on them to fulfill those goals. The squad will be looking to improve upon their unfortunate 2-5 regular-season record from the previous season of ECL, which forced the team to duke it out in Relegation to keep hold of their ECL spot for Season 44.
Following these changes, Detonate are now:
Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore
Adam "freshie" Paterson
Jack "micro" Ryan
Brett "brett" Rhein
Kellen "SLIGHT" Nilan
Detonate will now be preparing for the beginning of ESL Challenger League Season 44, with the top domestic league set to begin on January 24th.
