paiN prevail in CCT North America Series 2

The Brazilian side came out on top after a grueling double overtime on the first map.

The second edition of the CCT North America Series has concluded, with paiN taking down Nouns 2-0 in the grand final of the event, securing themselves an $11,000 prize for their troubles.

After coming out on top in a hotly contested Brazilian derby in the semifinals of the event, paiN squared off against Nouns in the final. The series kicked off on Nouns' pick of Inferno, where the Americans found themselves largely in charge of the first half, posting a solid 10-5 lead on their T-side. Despite their impressive performance on the offense, Nouns struggled to stick the landing on their CT-side, as paiN rolled over the Americans for the bulk of the second half. Although Nouns snuck enough rounds to claim match point first, paiN had no issue forcing overtime on their opponent's pick.

Now in overtime, Nouns managed to shut out paiN for two of their three defensive rounds, but the squad soon found themselves unable to claim more than one round from the Brazilians on the offense, dragging the series to a second overtime. This time around paiN did not budge, as Vinicios "PKL" Coelho's men posted an unwavering defense to take a 3-0 lead in double overtime. Faced with the prospect of playing for triple overtime, Nouns were unable to last as paiN secured the final necessary round to take their opponent's pick 22-19.

paiN had the wind in their sails as the series rolled onto their pick of Nuke, and this became very readily apparent. Nouns once again struggled to put up a cohesive defense, with the Americans unable to string more than two rounds together at a time. As such, paiN secured themselves a decent 9-6 lead heading into the CT-side. This three-round lead proved to be all that was necessary for paiN, as the Brazilians swept seven rounds in a row in the second half to lock down their pick 16-6, earning them first-place in the second CCT North America Series.
