Top seeds collide in round three of ADV S43 playoffs

Davenport University and Limitless look ready for war after dominant wins.

Competing teams continue to drop as only two teams remain in the upper bracket. As the margin for error thins, the true titans of the season have begun to show themselves inside the playoffs.

#1 Davenport University 2-0 #5 1WIN

Davenport continued their playoff tear against 1WIN, making quick work of them on Inferno after a 5-4 start. After the 16-5 stomp, the two took to Vertigo, where 1WIN literally sent the calvary against DU with seven different players representing 1WIN on the second map. It did net them more rounds than on Inferno, but Davenport was still unphased by their opposition, closing the map 16-11 to secure the series and send 1WIN to the lower bracket.

#3 Limitless 2-0 #2 Eros

The battle between two top seeds ended up being a rather one-sided affair, as Limitless made light work of Eros on both maps, 16-8 and 16-6. Winning first-half pistols on both maps gave Limitless fuel to take dominant leads early. 11-4 first-half wins on both maps was what LMT needed to take an easy 2-0 over Eros to send them to the lower bracket.

#7 Orion 2-1 #8 Got Juice

Got Juice looked poised to take the series over Orion following a well-rounded showing on their pick of Nuke, but Orion had more to offer after the initial 13-16 loss. They answered back with a 16-7 win on Mirage and a tough 16-12 decider victory on Inferno to reverse sweep and eliminate Got Juice.

#6 Reign 2-0 #12 Infinity

The two teams were inseparable through the first thirty rounds of Mirage, needing the full six rounds of overtime to conclude the winner. Eros’ Nelvin “nooz” Gonzalez was the x-factor between the two parties, giving his team the edge to win Orion’s map pick 19-17. It was the same story when they went to Inferno, as nooz top fragged once again on map two to secure an easy 16-9 map win to send Orion to the lower bracket.

#14 EX CINERE 2-0 #4 Take Charge

A well-rounded performance by the entire EX CINERE lineup was too much for the much better-seeded Take Charge to handle, as they were unable to force much competition across the series. Two 10-5 first half showings by EX CINERE led a rather simple 2-0 for the underdogs, eliminating Take Charge.

#15 Take Flyte 2-0 #9 Zero MarksMen

The first map between the two started tight initially, but by the end of the series, they looked to be in completely different tiers. A 16-1 stomp on Overpass headlined Take Flyte’s lower bracket win, eliminating ZMM.
