cxzi has parted with Nouns following the conclusion of ECL's regular season

Nouns lose one ahead of ECL playoffs

The top domestic side now have another hole to patch.

Nouns AWPer Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk has announced that he will be on the hunt for a new team for the upcoming season. This move sees the breakup of the core that signed with Nouns ahead of the IEM Rio Americas RMR, with David "cynic" Polster and Brendan "Bwills" Williams being the only two remaining players from the original lineup.

cxzi's departure from Nouns follows a laundry list of moves that Nouns have made since the squad's 2-3 run at the Americas RMR. Almost two weeks after their international bout, Nouns opted to bench Dominick "JazzPimp" Dimpfel, bringing on Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly in his steed.

One month later, it was reported that Nouns rifler Jeorge "jeorgesnorts" Endicott would be parting with the squad to link up with EG Black in place of Connor "chop" Sullivan. Although Evil Geniuses have not officially announced jeorgesnort's acquisition, the young gun began playing for the squad in officials starting November 26th.

Despite the slew of moves in a relatively short period, Nouns have held on to their status as one of the top squads in the region, going 6-1 in ECL only after a narrow loss to rivals ATK.

cxzi originally linked up with the Nouns core back in August after departing BHOP, when the squad was still represented by Gaimin Gladiators. Shortly after cxzi's arrival the squad found themselves dropped by Gaimin Gladiators even despite qualification for the Americas RMR in Stockholm, Sweden. After a brief period as "Squirtle Squad" the team was acquired by Nouns in September, who continued to retain the squad's services after their impressive showing in Sweden.

During his time with Nouns, cxzi managed a 1.01 rating and helped the team secure a second-place finish in Season 42 of ESL Challenger League, alongside the squad's current 6-1 record in the regular season of Season 43. Considering the move's proximity to ECL playoffs, Dust2.us reached out to cxzi for comment on whether he would be playing the post-season with Nouns, with cxzi stating that the team is in talks on the matter.

Ahead of ECL playoffs, Nouns are now:

  • United States David "cynic" Polster

  • United States Brendan "Bwills" Williams

  • United States Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly

  • United States Christopher "cJ" Jones (Stand-in)

  • Canada Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen (Coach)

Nouns will need to sort out their fifth player in short order, as the squad is set to begin their ECL playoffs campaign with a quarterfinal against Iron Blood on Tuesday the 13th.
