M80 claim BLAST Open Porto spot over Voca
M80 have topped the BLAST Open Porto NA Closed Qualifier via a 2-0 win over Voca in the grand finals last night. The 2-0 win over Voca caps off a near-perfect run for M80 through the bracket as they qualfiier without dropping a single map nor were any of their opponents able to force M80 to double digits on the six maps played.
The series itself started on Ancient with M80 getting off to a 4-0 start on their CT-side, remaining in control to take the half 9-3. After switching sides Voca had the beginnings of a comeback by winning their CT pistol and following two rounds, however it did not come back to pass as M80 won the next four rounds to take Ancient 13-6.
Moving onto Cache, M80 found a 3-1 start on their T-side before three rounds from Voca saw the underdogs take the lead for the first time in the series. This lead was quickly retaken by M80 as they won the next four rounds before Voca ended the half with a round of their own, giving M80 a 7-5 lead heading into the second half. The second half of Cache ended up being the competitive of the night as it started evenly split 2-2 despite M80 winning the opening pistol round on their CT-side. This gave Voca a real chance to find their way back into the game, however this failed to materialize as M80 found match point by winning three rounds in a row before keeping Voca at bay to take the map 13-9.
