Armada seals Torqued's fate on Inferno yet again, after besting them in the recent DreamHack Austin Open Qualifier on the map just two weeks ago.

Armada upset Torqued to win PreGame Masters #1

Armada close out the PreGame Masters #1 in three maps over Torqued to claim the $1,500 first place prize.

The finals for the PreGame Masters #1 have come to an end, with Armada taking down Torqued in a 2-1 series that has net them the bulk of the $2,500 prize pool. This marks the first tournament win for the ex-Etherian/ex-Atmosphere mix under their new banner.

The hectic series between the two teams began on Nuke, Torqued's pick. After claiming the pistol round on their T-side, the ex-iBUYPOWER core's offense was virtually non-existant. Armada's second round force-buy was converted into twelve consecutive rounds that would bring them to a 13-2 scoreline come the half. After the two swapped sides, Armada quickly racked up the last three rounds they required to take the first map in the series 16-2.

After such a heavily one-sided affair on Nuke, it came as somewhat of a surprise when Torqued clapped back on Overpass, kicking things off with a string of five rounds to begin their T-side. Though they did experience some push-back from Armada towards the end of the half, they ended their Terrorist side 11-4. Unable to muster any formidable offense, save the pistol round, Torqued ran away with the game after a force-buy that put them on a hot streak until the end of the map 16-5.

Once on the decider map of Inferno, Torqued carried their momentum over with them, accruing the first three rounds on their T-side. The remainder of the half was a back-and-forth display from both teams, glittering the scoreboard with strings of rounds varying between one to three at a time, until the half ended 9-6 in Torqued's favor.

With their backs against the wall, Armada persevered, sticking it to their opponents with an impressive T-side offense of their own. By the end of the last half in the series, Armada only let three rounds slip through the cracks for Torqued, securing their title as the PreGame Masters #1 Champions with a 16-12 victory.
