Liquid face IEM Cologne Major elimination after tight loss v. MIBR in 1-1 match
Liquid were at a fork in the road in the 1-1 match v. MIBR at the IEM Cologne Major Stage 1. The NA side would either put themselves one series away from Stage 2 qualification with a win, or one series away from elimination with a loss.
Unfortunately for Liquid, it was the former. Despite a good performance from their newest signing Mario "malbsMd" Samoya, who went 24-16, Liquid couldn't close out the second-half T side.
Mirage was the setting of the best-of-one, where a back-and-forth affair on Liquid's CT side ended with a tie game at 6-6. malbsMd's fourteen first-half frags were a large part of keeping Liquid in the game early on.
The second half belonged to MIBR's Klimentii "kl1m" Krivosheev and Carlos "venomzera" Eduardo, who combined for 25 frags in their defensive half, leading the Brazilian core to the 13-10 victory.
Liquid captain Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek really struggled, putting up just four frags in 23 rounds. However, his poor performance was matched by MIBR's own IGL, who also posted four kills.
