Thunderpick World Championship North America Series 1 reaches playoffs

After five days of group stage competition, eight teams have been cut down to the four that will participate in the playoffs. The group stage survivors are joined by another four teams to round out the single-elimination bracket of eight, where they will all compete for the $7,500 first-place prize.

The teams invited to the playoffs by the March VRS are M80, Wildcard, BOSS (now disbanded), and Zomblers.

Group A consisted of FarmVille, Aether, OverKnight, and Shimmer. FarmVille and Aether both won their openers 2-0 before Aether took another 2-0 win over FarmVille to top the group. In the lower bracket, Shimmer eliminated OverKnight before falling to FarmVille.

Group B had only three teams in Incognito, InControl, and girl kissers, as insane players disbanded before the event. InControl had clean 2-0 wins over girl kissers and Incognito to top their group. In the decider match, Incognito dominated girl kissers to take the second spot.

The first two playoff matches were supposed to be tonight, but both had a team forfeit as FarmVille and BOSS were both unable to field eligible lineups. This sets up a semifinal between Wildcard and Aether.

The other two quarter finals will play out Saturday night with Zomblers taking on InControl at 05:30PM, and M80 facing Incognito at 08:30PM.
