Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7 Quarterfinal #3 recap: regain sweep EMPIRE in close 2-0 series, advance to semifinals
regain took on EMPIRE in the third of four quarterfinal matchups in Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7 playoffs.
regain came into the series as one of the top-seeded teams with a 3-0 record, while EMPIRE snuck into the playoffs at a 3-2 mark.
regain chose to start the series on Inferno, with EMPIRE electing to take the CT side first. EMPIRE took control early, taking a 7-3 lead, but regain rallied for the final two rounds to close the deficit to two. Back-and-forth play at the beginning of the second half favored EMPIRE, but it regain finished strong with five out of six rounds to force overtime. regain kept that momentum into the extra period, dropping just one round to win the map 16-13.
EMPIRE's pick was Dust2, but it was regain who gained a commanding lead to start their CT side. They converted a 5-1 advantage into a 10-2 edge at the halftime break. EMPIRE didn't go down without a fight, though, rallying with nine of the first ten rounds before trading rounds at the end to bring the second map to OT, as well. regain came out the better in the overtime rounds, again, dropping a single round to win the map 16-13 and series 2-0.
Eric "Zucar" Zuccaro played very well for regain, tallying 53 frags and a great 1.45 rating.
