Benched Marsborne roster top CCT Season 3 NA Series #4 over Voca in "Last Dance" performance
Last night saw the recently-benched Marsborne squad play their final match ever together, with the team putting on a stunning "last dance"-esque performance as they secured a 2-1 victory over Voca to win the CCT Season 3 NA Series #4. The night was especially sentimental for Connor "chop" Sullivan as the player has player retired, finishing his playing career with a bang as he ended the finals with a 1.31 rating.
Marsborne's road to the finals began with a forfeit win over insane players before picking up a close 2-0 win over Aether. On the other side of the bracket, Voca made quick work of Akimbo with a 2-0 win in the quarterfinals before an equally confident 2-0 win over regain in the semifinals.
This set the stage for Marsborne and Voca to meet in the grand finals for the eight and final showdown between the two cores. The series kicked off on Dust2 with Voca claiming a narrow 7-5 win on their T-side before Danny "Cxzi" Strzelczyk and Ian "motm" Hardy led the charge for Marsborne to narrowly take their opponent's map pick 13-11.
Moving onto Marsborne's map pick of Nuke any possibility of this series being a 2-0 win for the moribund team were shattered as Voca posted a fantastic 9-3 CT-side and a perfect T-side to win the map 13-5 with Paytyn "junior" Johnson posting 22 kills and a 2.15 rating.
With the series tied up, we were unfortunately deprived of a nail-biting end to the series as Marsborne had their chance to dominate, winning their CT-side 8-4 before posting a perfect T-side to close things down 13-4.
With Marsborne taking the CCT trophy it will be the last time we see this squad together as chop has retired, Cxzi has moved to Wildcard, Adam "Grizz" Golden has moved to the new Marsborne roster, and the other players are left to ponder their futures.
