Liquid get donked and fall 0-2 to Spirit in IEM Rio opener
In their first match at the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2026, Liquid lost to Spirit 0-2 off the back of stellar performance from superstar Danil "donk" Kryshkovets. The first map was a non-starter. While the NA squad put up a solid fight on map two, it still went the way of Spirit.
Liquid picked Ancient to start the series, but were unable to break through Spirit's CT-side. After starting the second half with a 10-2 lead and a pistol win, Spirit quickly ended the first map 13-2.
Spirit picked Dust2, but started down 1-4 after Liquid took the pistol and conversions. Spirit had a strong remainder of the half to tie the score 6-6. Liquid won pistol and conversions in the second half as well, but again Spirit were victorious in the gun rounds to take the map 13-11.
Due to the one-sided nature of the match, nobody on Liquid ended the series with a positive K/D or more than 70 ADR.
