The final two matches of the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7 group stage took place last night, with EMPIRE playing Aether and Chicanery taking on team mouse in the 2-2 matches.

United States EMPIRE 2-1 United States Aether

EMPIRE began their map pick of Overpass with a 2-0 start, but that was the only time they would hold an advantage. Aether rattled off nine of the next ten rounds to secure a 9-3 halftime lead for themselves. Aether kept that momentum on their T side, surrendering a single round on their way to a 13-4 win.

Aether's pick was Anubis, and they began 4-0 up, looking to take the series 2-0. EMPIRE took a play out of their opponents' book, winning the final eight rounds of the half to take an 8-4 edge. Aether began the second half strong, as well, winning four of the first five rounds. EMPIRE came back with a flurry again, putting Aether away by winning four rounds on the bounce and forcing a third map.

The decider was on Dust2, and Aether will be kicking themselves for not closing things out on the second map. EMPIRE won the first four rounds of the map, dropped one, then went on a seven-round streak to hold a dominant 11-1 halftime advantage. There was no comeback in the cards for Aether, as they fell 13-1 on the Egyptian map to EMPIRE to lose the series 2-1.

The win secured EMPIRE's spot in the playoffs, while Aether will appear in the playoffs as well, because BOSS dropped out of EMS after the dissolution of their team.
