Media: Falcons will add karrigan before the IEM Cologne Major

Earlier today, French insider and streamer Sebastien "KRL" Perez posted "karrigan set to join Falcons before Cologne Major." Shortly after, Samuel "Draik" Popkes of HLTV (and formerly Dust2.us) published an article stating the claim was "corroborated by HLTV's own sources," lending further credibility to the report. Draik added that Finn "karrigan" Andersen is expected to join following the conclusion of IEM Rio.

The bombshell move would likely see the legendary captain take the place of current Falcons IGL Damjan "⁠kyxsan⁠" Stoilkovski, who has been with the organization for over a year.

The information comes just over a week after karrigan and FaZe failed to qualify for the upcoming IEM Cologne Major following a disastrous string of LANs. In an interview with Arron "king_dempz" Dempsey of HLTV at PGL Bucharest, karrigan discussed the possibility of stepping down from the lineup, but gave no indication of a potential move to another team, let alone one like Falcons.

Outside of an appearance in the final of BLAST Bounty Winter in January, Falcons have had a mediocre year considering their lineup. With strong firepower from players like Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and Maksim "kyousuke" Lukin, some in the community have been calling for a change in leadership to help realize the team's potential. A veteran captain of many superstars, like karrigan, could be just what the doctor ordered.

The move would see karrigan reunite with former teammate Nikola "NiKo" Kovač. The two famously played together on FaZe in 2017 and 2018, lifting many trophies and making the final of the ELEAGUE Boston Major. karrigan would also reunite with coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen, who worked with the Danish captain during the early days of Astralis in 2016.

The reports did not indicate what would happen to FaZe after karrigan's departure. With the organization missing their first major since entering Counter-Strike over a decade ago, the loss of karrigan cannot be overstated. The team is in dire need of changes, but equally in need of a leader to guide them through that process. It seems for FaZe, things just went from bad to worse.
