Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7 Day 3 recap: EMPIRE defeat LAG, move to 1-0

Three matches went down on the third day of play.

The opening round of Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7 group play came to a close on day three.

EMPIRE beat LAG 2-1, while insane players (formerly SportsBetExpert) and Chicanery swept Reign Above and Outfit 49, respectively.

LAG began the series with a 4-0 run on their pick of Inferno. EMPIRE closed the deficit to two rounds at halftime, as LAG led 7-5. LAG had a good start in the second half, again, taking five rounds from seven to take a 12-7 lead. EMPRIE's comeback was short-lived, as they fell 13-9 on EMPIRE's pick.

LAG took the early lead on EMPIRE's map, Anubis, winning four rounds to one to begin with a 4-1 advantage. EMPRIE bounced back with six in a row to propel themselves to a 7-5 halftime lead. EMPIRE quickly took a 12-6 lead and avoided the LAG comeback to win 13-9.

The decider was Overpass, where neither side could pull out ahead early on. A run of three rounds in a row gave EMPIRE a slight 7-5 edge at the half. They extended their streak to six rounds in a row to get to ten rounds early in the second half. EMPIRE won six out of the next seven rounds to cut the lead to 11-10, but LAG quelled their advance to win the map 13-10 and take the series.

Ezekiel "KmZ" Hughes was the standout player for EMPIRE, dropping 63 frags with a 1.68 rating to push his side to the win.

United States insane players 2-0 United States Reign Above

insane players picked Mirage to start the series, where Reign Above held the early advantage at 6-2. insane players closed the gap, winning four in a row to level things up at halftime. They extended their streak to ten in a row to take the lead 12-6 and give themselves six map points. Reign Above won three rounds before insane players secured the final round, winning 13-9.

Reign Above's map was Anubis, with both teams trading the first five rounds, leaving the advantage with insane players at 3-2. insane players won the next six rounds to take control of the map and lead 9-3 at halftime. Reign Above won the first two rounds of the second half, but insane players closed with confidence, winning four on the bounce to win the map 13-5 and sweep the series 2-0.

Adam "freshie" Paterson and Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula were in good form for insane players as they logged 37 and 32 frags, respectively, in the sweep
