M80 reverse sweep Aurora, book a spot in upper bracket finals at DraculaN Season 6
North American side M80 were faced with a tall task v. Aurora, who were recently runners-up at ESL Pro League Season 23 and placed top-4 at BLAST Open Rotterdam.
Aurora stormed to a first map victory to take a swift 1-0 lead, but M80 bounced back on maps two and three to defeat their Turkish opposition.
M80's map pick was Inferno, and Aurora elected to begin on the CT side. Aurora started hot, with seven rounds in a row to take complete control of the game. M80 battled their way to three rounds in the first half, leaving the NA squad down 9-3 at halftime. The second half started just the same as the first, but it M80 didn't have the room to play with this time, as Aurora won four rounds to none lost to win the first map 13-3.
Aurora chose Anubis, getting off to another great start. The Turkish side took the 5-0 lead, but M80 fought back to reduce the lead to 7-5 at the interval. Aurora secured a 10-6 scoreline early in the second period, to which M80 responded with a streak of four rounds to even the scores at 10-10. They extended that run to seven rounds in total to steal Aurora's map pick with a 13-10 victory.
The decisive map in the series was Overpass, where Aurora wanted to capitalize on starting on the CT side. Aurora began with a quick 3-0 lead, but M80 rallied with five in a row to take a slim lead. Both sides secured two rounds each to end the first half with M80 up 7-5. Aurora quickly tied things up and took a 10-7 lead in the early stages of the second half. M80 showed spirit, clawing three rounds back to even the score at ten rounds apiece. Aurora took a slight edge at 11-10, but the North Americans rallied to another three-round streak to secure the victory and secure a spot in the upper bracket final at DraculaN Season 6.
M80's German AWPer Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich led in the fragging category for his side, totaling 44 kills in the series.
M80 will now face Monte in the upper bracket final tomorrow at 12:00PM.
