ECL S51 Cup 2 Day 4 recap: Chicken Coop and SportsBetExpert book spots in upper bracket finals

It was another day of ECL S51 Cup 2 action last night as the competition is drawing closer to its finale.

Four matches made up the fourth day of play in the second cup competition of this season as Chicken Coop and SportsBetExpert each put themselves one match away from the grand final.

Chicken Coop 2-1 Aether

Chicken Coop chose to begin their upper semifinal match against Aether on Nuke. Neither side could be separated in the first half, as the scores were level at 6-6. Chicken Coop looked to capitalize on the favored CT side, but it was a mirror image of the first half, as the map went to overtime with both sides still deadlocked. The marathon was finally over when Chicken Coop were able to grind out the win 22-20 and hold firm on their map pick.

Aether's map was Inferno and they showed impressive resilience to bounce back after a tough loss on map one. Aether jumped out to a 9-3 lead, which they would convert into a 13-6 win with little issue to force a third map.

It was another battle on Overpass to begin the map, as Chicken Coop were able to fight for a 6-6 scoreline after they started on the traditionally difficult T side. This time Chicken Coop were able to take advantage of the favorable CT side and put Aether away, surrendering just one second half round to win 13-7.

Alexander "REKMEISTER" Flynn led the way for Chicken Coop, posting 67 frags to 58 deaths in the series.

SportsBetExpert 2-1 LAG

SportsBetExpert began the series on Dust2 where they would sprint out to a 9-3 advantage after the first half. The second half would be even smoother, as they didn’t give up any rounds to win the first map 13-3.

Inferno was the pick of LAG, and they showed more spirit in the second map, winning six of the final eight first half rounds to hold a narrow 7-5 halftime lead. They continued with that momentum in the second half to force a third map thanks to a solid 13-7 win.

SportsBetExpert were keen on not letting the series fall through their hands, as they took a commanding 8-4 lead at halftime on Ancient. It was another flawless second half for SBE that secured the series win, as they won 13-4 in the jungle to send LAG to the lower bracket.

SBE’s Portuguese player Samuel "sml" Oliveira logged 49 frags, nine more than the next closest player, to propel SportsBetExpert into the upper final.
