BOSS and Fisher College qualify for PGL Astana Closed Qualifier
The first open qualifier in NA for PGL Astana concluded last night as BOSS and Fisher College cruised to qualification for the closed qualifier.
BOSS and Fisher both fielded stand-ins for the qualifier, with BOSS using coach Ben "ben1337" Smith in place of Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz who is currently playing with Metizport at ROG Jouney Spring 2026. Fisher used Noah "z0mb1e" Velez, who stood in for Dutchman Nils "ReFuZR" Groot.
Both teams were flawless in their efforts, as neither lost a single map to advance to the closed qualifier.
BOSS' journey to the closed quali began with a swift 13-2 defeat of team mouse in the opening round. Their next match came against Foxtrot, where they won 2-0: 13-7 and 13-9. The qualification match came against Chicanery, a team featuring Ben "HAMBOOGA" Wetrich and Andrew "Tender" Cote. BOSS' streak of wins would continue, as they put away Chicanery with 13-8 and 13-5 victories on Mirage and Overpass, respectively. ben1337 played very well for BOSS, as he put up 32 frags and logged a 1.43 rating in the qualification series.

Fisher began with a 13-8 win over Imperium on Ancient. ClayMakers Reborn was Fisher's next opponent, whom Fisher beat 16-12 on Ancient before ClayMakers forfeit the second map. Chicken Coop forfeit in the final game due to a scheduling conflict with ECL S51 Cup 2.
