NRG bounce back, eliminate B8 from BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026
NRG have recovered from an opening match defeat by Falcons at the expense of B8, as the North Americans defeated the European squad 2-0 to stay alive at BLAST Open Rotterdam.
Josh "oSee" Ohm and Michael "Grim" Wince were outstanding in the win, combining for 79 frags in the sweep.
The series began with NRG's map pick, Inferno. Despite losing the pistol, the Americans jumped out to a 9-1 lead, with their momentum only slightly slowed by B8 securing the final two rounds of the first half. NRG quickly secured nine match points with a 12-3 advantage. B8 mounted a small comeback, but fell 13-6 on Inferno.
The second map was B8's choice of Ancient, but it was NRG who came out hot once again. This time, the American majority-side did one better than their performance on Inferno, putting up a 10-2 first half to all but put B8 away. The Europeans responded with a better second half this time around, closing the gap to 11-7 at one point. It wouldn't be enough, however, as NRG would hold on to win the map 13-9 and secure the 2-0 series victory.
oSee and Grim were immense v. B8, logging up 37 and 42 frags, respectively.
NRG will now face the loser of Aurora v. FURIA in the Group A lower bracket semi-finals on Sunday at 07:00AM.
