BOSS bet on rookies with WUMBO, marekiew additions
Last night BOSS announced two additions to their lineup, seeing the team pick up a relatively unexpected duo in the form of Chance "WUMBO" Boyer and Mark "marekiew" Petrov. The additions are a marked change in BOSS's recruiting strategy as the team have previously focused on experienced NA veterans while WUMBO and marekiew are rookies when compared to the likes of their new teammates.
WUMBO is the least experienced of the incoming duo, with the rifler only having two maps on HLTV at the time of publication. WUMBO got his start in ESEA Advanced Season 53 with Room Temp IQs before joining Kyle "OCEAN" O'Brien's recently revived SKDC roster for ESEA Main Season 54. It is under SKDC where WUMBO has spent the last eight competing, playing with an eclectic mix of old-school players including OCEAN, Derek "desi" Branchen, Terry "dsr" Rioux and some younger names like Nolan "Louie" Herges and Sebastian "cbass" Alday.
During his time with SKDC, WUMBO has had a number of notable achievements including a second-place finish in ESEA Main Season 54, a top-twelve finish in ESEA Advanced Season 55, and securing a playoffs berth in Advanced this season. With the call-up to BOSS, WUMBO will join his first pro squad as Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and co. look to make up for a poor start to 2026.
The lineup's other newcomer, markiew, is a far more familiar face in the scene after six months with regain. He recently stepped down from the team due to "work commitments", with those issues seemingly being resolved enough for him to return to action under BOSS. marekiew joins BOSS with a 1.10 rating over 29 maps during the past three months and will hopefully be able to lend some of that firepower to his new squad.
