Passion UA lose three-map thriller to FUT, move to 1-1 at ESL Pro League Season 23
FUT outlasted Passion UA in a three-map series, which saw either team take the other's map pick.
Loanee Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold from The MongolZ has hit the ground running with Passion after putting in impressive performances in his first two series with the team.
Passion UA chose to begin the series on Anubis, a map which FUT have been winless on to this point. FUT took the lead at 4-0 and held on to keep the advantage at 7-5 at halftime. There, the Europeans transitioned to the T side and didn't look back. Passion UA were only able to win two rounds in the second half and fell 13-7 on their own map pick.
This appeared to spell doom for PUA, as the second map was FUT's pick of Mirage, where they held a 94% win rate. FUT started with another 4-0 edge once again. Passion battled back again, going one better than the first map to even the scoreline at 6-6. Both sides traded streaks of rounds in the second half, putting the map on a knife's edge at 10-10. Passion clutched up at the end to win the final three rounds and steal Mirage 13-10.
The series was primed for an exciting finish on Dust2. Passion UA secured the early advantage for the first time in the series, sprinting to a 5-0 lead. FUT showed resilience to end the first half, winning six of the last seven rounds to even up the round count at six all. The heavyweight fight continued into the second half as the score was tied at 11-11 after both teams were able to put together separate streaks of three and two rounds. FUT dragged the win across the line thanks to a 1v2 from Aulon "Krabeni" Fazlija to secure the 13-11 result.
Senzu put up an immense 63 frags in a losing effort for PUA. Krabeni was the star for FUT as he logged 54 kills to propel his side to the win.
Passion UA will take to the server tomorrow in the 1-1 pool.
