Luminosity founder Steve Maida reacquires Major-winning organization
Luminosity has been bought back by Steve Maida after a rocky period of ownership with Vertiqal Studios.
Maida founded and co-owned Luminosity a decade ago, where they made a splash in the CS:GO space with the Brazilian roster that became SK.
Luminosity's most famous CS:GO roster featured Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "coldzera" David and won the MLG Columbus Major in 2016 before being acquired by SK, where the squad won another Major at ESL Cologne 2016.
Luminosity also fielded teams in other games, such as Call of Duty and Halo, and was also the home for Tyler "Ninja" Blevins when he was at the peak of his fame in Fortnite.
Vertiqal Studios only owned Luminosity since August 2025, when they bought the brand from Enthusiast Gaming.
Luminosity has recently been under fire, with multiple content creators alleging that Vertiqal Studios owed them money. According to Luminosity's socials, the creators in question have been paid, but that information has not been verified. Steve Maida will not inherit any debt that was accrued under Vertiqal's ownership.
