Liquid survive TYLOO scare to stay alive at StarLadder Budapest Major

A bit shaky but a win is a win.

Liquid have survived a close 2-1 series against TYLOO to stay alive in Stage Two of the StarLadder Budapest Major. With the win, Liquid advances to Round Five of the Swiss Stage where they will aim to complete their comeback from a 0-2 deficit to make Top 16 in Budapest.

The series started on Ancient with the scoreline being a bit deceptive as Liquid struggled on the map, trailing 7-5 at halftime after starting their T-side 4-0 down. This snowballed on the CT-side where Liquid looked out of their element, only picking up four rounds before TYLOO secured the map 13-9. Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek in particular struggled on the opening map in the series, only posting five kills against the Chinese squad.

Moving onto Train, Liquid looked far better as they got off to a dominant 7-0 start on their CT-side before sending the half with a comfortable 8-4 lead. After switching sides, Liquid continued their dominant ways on Train, securing a quick 13-5 win thanks in part to Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak and Keith "NAF" Markovic combined for 15 kills over six rounds.

With the series tied up, Inferno ended up being a nail biter as Liquid trailed 4-8 at half time after failing to have a productive T-side. This forced the team to play catch-up on their CT-side, with things starting smoothly as they won five out of the first six rounds in the second half to secure a 9-8. However, TYLOO put them in a truly scary situation as they won the next three rounds to find map point, forcing Liquid to rally to force overtime to stay alive in Budapest.

With overtime in hand, things remained scrappy for Liquid as both teams have misplays. However, in the final round of double OT, a last-second rotate call from Liquid saw the team take the A bombsite with six seconds to spare and used this rotation to win an unlikely round and the map 19-17, sending the final Chinese team at the Major home.
