Imperial take down M80 in nail-biter to secure spot in StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 3
M80 lost the opportunity to secure a spot at the StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 3, as they narrowly lost to Imperial on December 1st, in one of the advancement matches of Stage 2.
M80 will play a do-or-die match tomorrow, December 2nd, to try to make Stage 3. Passion UA is on the same boat at them, and Liquid are fighting for survival against TYLOO.
M80 had a rough start to the series, as Imperial put on an impressive CT-side on Mirage, which M80 picked. They've put up a good fight in the second half and nearly forced OT, but Imperial clinched a narrow 13-11 victory thanks to a massive multikill from Kaiky "noway" Santos in the after-plant.
The way that M80 recovered in the second half of Mirage seemingly gave them confidence for Dust2, as they battered Imperial on the map, off the back of a 10-2 win on the CT-side. Everybody on M80 played well, but Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich led the show with 17 kills, +15.05% Round Swing, and a 2.08 rating.
Imperial enjoyed a good start on the CT-side of Train, as they've won the force buy and the next four rounds. But M80 salvaged the half with some great reads, leaving the map entirely open for grabs in the second half.
The second half of Train came down to the wire, just like Mirage, and Imperial came out on top once again as they broke M80's economy at the end, and prevented it from going to overtime.
We'll know the adversaries of M80, Passion UA, and possibly Liquid, later today.
