Wildcard CEO confirms plans to rebuild CS2 division from scratch

Wildcard have gone back to the deck after benching their previous roster.

Wildcard's CEO John "Griff" Griffin has confirmed via an X post that the organization will be rebuilding their Counter-Strike 2 division from scratch while staying in North America. The news follows the shock benching and transfer-listing of their previous lineup yesterday, which marked the conclusion of an extremely tumultuous period for the team following controversial roster moves made after the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

In the statement, Griffin explained that the plan is to "reset the culture and standards within the organization" while resetting the entire project under the leadership of Head of Esports Darren Moore and Director of Analytics and Performance Joe "jobrokkaebi" Reyes.

While exact details on the future of the project are vague, Griffin stated that the organization will be sharing behind the scenes content about the rebuild in "weeks to come" while a "ground up" rebuild seemingly implies the team will be assembling a new core distinct from their previous roster.

What this means for the organization's current position in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), however should the team start from zero points next year they will likely need to prioritize attending as many events as possible if they want any chance of attending a Major in 2026.
