Shimmer find a new home with Sakura ahead of ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals

Finally some good news for the Impact scene.

American esports Sakura have announced the signing of ESL Impact squad Shimmer, seeing the lineup signed ahead of the ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals; the final event in ESL's Impact circuit. Shimmer had been on the lookout for a new organization after parting ways with Supernova Comets in early August. The Sakura organization has existed in its current form since 2024 and currently hosts teams in Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends.

The signing is a sliver of good news in the wake of ESL's announcement that they would be discontinuing ESL Impact following the conclusion of Season 8. With that, the future of women's CS is quite uncertain as any plans to introduce a replacement circuit have yet to materialize while overall investment in the space is expected to crater without the circuit's main league.

Sakura will head to the ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals with an aim on returning to the grand finals after securing a second-place finish under Supernova Comets in Season 7.

Sakura are now:

  • United States Lucy "empathy" Verkaik

  • United States Wrenna "Stx" Trampel

  • United States Raven "raven" Sol

  • United States Lydia "Fawx" Dalton

  • United States Sylvie "Serendipity" Splaver

  • United States Victor "Ink" Rozvora (Coach)

Shimmer will debut as Sakura when the ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals kick off on September 28th in Stockholm, Sweden.
