ESIC commutes gokushima ban after cooperation leads to four bans, information into ongoing investigations
ESIC has announced the reduction of Erkhan "gokushima" Bagynanov's ban from two years down to 18 months and 13 days, meaning that it expired on October 10th.
The reduction comes following the player's cooperation with ESIC, which led to the banning of four other players for match-fixing. gokushima was regarded as an upcoming player during his time with HOTU in 2022 and 2023, receiving a callup from FORZE in late 2023. However the Russian AWPers career was derailed after he was banned for matchfixing and breaches of the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code and Code of Conduct in March 2023.
Thanks to the information and corroboration he provided ESIC regarding other matchfixers, his sentence was reduced, and he is now able to participate in ESIC-partnered events once again.
gokushima's assistance led to the banning of:
-
Egor "zLy" Polyakov – Lifetime ban -
Aleksandr "Ruler" Maximov – 5-year ban -
Dmitriy "propleh" Senigov – 5-year ban -
Petr "timeagento" Markheev – 5-year ban
As well as other information presently being used by ESIC in another ongoing investigation into match-fixing activities.
