Five Swedish players handed bans for cheating, matchfixing in multiple leagues across Europe
The Svenska Elitserien has conducted an investigation, banning five players in the league who have "been using DMA/radar hacks while match-fixing across multiple online leagues and tournament."
Two players have received lifetime bans, while three have been suspended for one year with the possibility of an extension. The news is the latest in a deluge of bans for cheating and matchfixing in the European scene in recent weeks, with a number of Russian and Kazakh players receiving sanctions from the likes of CCT, Akros, and ESIC.
The Northern Lights players Anton "Meinz" Evander and Axel "Axelen" Enholm were handed lifetime bans from the Svenska Elitserien and events held on Esplay, while Frank "Fraaank" Issal, Oscar "Avoy" Dahlkvist, and Alexander "frigolito" Andersson received bans lasting one year on Esplay.
When contacted by HLTV the Elitserien founder said, Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson, said, "I can confirm that the disciplinary decisions were made by both physical evidence and player confessions."
Fraaank said that the team would agree to make results look a certain way, detailing, "We used to win/lose depending on what we had decided before the match."
CEO of Esplay, Daniel "Pani" Aicardi, claimed on X that there are more teams that are committing similar acts. He says that they are "staying under the radar by never winning tournaments," but performing well enough to keep receiving invites and continue to matchfix.
In a further punishment for the most notorious players, Akros Anti-Cheat have also announced they will be mirroring the permanent bans for Meinz and Axelen. Akros is an anti-cheat company that provides AC services to a number of tournament organizers in Europe and abroad. With the Swedes now banned from their own domestic league and from a large number of EU tournament organizers, their careers are effectively over, with Meinz throwing away his career at just sixteen years old.
